I’m a portrait and travel photographer based near Berlin and if you’d told the version of me studying for her bachelor’s degree a few years ago that this is where I’d end up, I’m not sure I’d have believed you.
For a long time I did the responsible thing. Got the degree, worked long hours, tried very hard to fit into a life that seemed to work for everyone around me. It took me longer than I’d like to admit to notice that “works for everyone” and “right for me” weren’t the same thing.
Looking back, the pieces fit together more neatly than they felt at the time. Because if I go all the way back — to being a kid — happiness was simple.
It was playing outside, being surrounded by farm animals, and capturing every leaf and stone and animal with my parents’ camera. They took me travelling from the time I was one year old, and without realising it, all that time outside and away shaped who I am now.
It gave me a lifelong itch to understand other places, and a camera has always been how I make sense of them.
There’s an old line…
… I keep coming back to: Go back to what you loved as a child, and you’ll find your way to what makes you happy. Turns out mine was never far away.
I won’t pretend this path is perfect, nothing is, and some days it’s far from it. But it feels natural in a way an office never did.
These days my work is split between two things I love equally: Creating images of people and their special events and being a travel photographer. If either of those sounds interesting to you, I’d love to hear from you.
I don’t know exactly where this path leads. But I’m genuinely enjoying the journey — and I’d love to take you along.
